Sarda Barrage is constructed on river Sharda nearly 28 km from Lakhimpur Railway station in Lakhimpur Kheri Distt. 258.80 km long feeder channel takes off from the right bank of Sarda Barrage with discharge of 650 cumecs.

Water Distribution System :
480 cumecs water of river Ghahra is diverted to river Sarda through 28.70 km long link channel and 650 cumecs of water is picked up from river Sarda. Project provides irrigation to the distt. of Lucknow, Lakhimpur Kheri, Rai Bareli, Barabanki, Pratapgarh, Allahabad, Sultanpur, Faizabad, Ballia, Ghazipur, Sitapur, Jaunpur, Mau, Azamgarh, Varanasi, Ambedkarnagar, Bhadohi etc in the central and eastern part of U.P. System provides irrigation to 16.74 Lac h.a. area (C.C.A) with channel irrigation intensity 115% of CCA.
